Rachel Thompson
Portrait and Figurative Artist
Rachel Thompson is a portrait and figurative artist from Oxfordshire. Working predominating as an Oil Painter, but also using mediums such as Soft Pastel, Charcoal and Graphite, she trained in the Netherlands at the Dutch Atelier of Realist Art and Wackers Academie (2023-4). Rachel’s work explores the relationship between people and nature, examining mankind’s approach to such. Noticing an increase in society’s disconnect and separation from nature, Rachel’s work explores our interconnectivity to our surroundings, and humanity’s unequivocally intertwined state and responsibility to the environment. Using natural landscapes from around Oxfordshire and Devon as inspiration, a classically infused contemporary style depicts her figures submerged and surrounded by their environments.
