Elizabeth Gordon
Potter
Liz is a potter who makes hand-built ceramic work using traditional methods of pinching and coiling.
She likes experimenting with and mixing different clays together, then decorating the finished work with slips, engobes and oxides. Her work is minimally glazed - just enough to make the pieces waterproof - and fired in an electric kiln in her garden. Liz is inspired by natural, organic forms, particularly stones and birch bark at the moment.
Her teacher, Jane Hansen has helped and encouraged her over more than ten years of wonderful pottery classes at her studio in Waterstock.
